Clean, bright and oh so easy on the eye, that’s my first impression of the Executive 2.0 Genesis child theme from Studiopress.
It’s the sort of theme that lifts your spirits just looking at it.
In fact it’s so inviting, I’ve given it a full page spread… no sidebars to spoil your enjoyment.
Executive is designed with the understanding that your most important projects need to be front and centre, strategically and expertly displayed.
This elegant layout offers your clients and customers a premium experience to share your objectives and carry out your vision with authority.
Show them you mean business.
The latest Genesis themes have emphasised great typography and layout set off by lots of white space and Executive 2.0 continues that trend.
If you want to see Executive 2.0 in full flow then head on over to the Studiopress website and put the Executive theme through its paces – you won’t be disappointed.
Executive 2.0 is the perfect theme for your business website
The simplicity, elegance and eye-catching appeal of the Executive theme make it ideal for business websites.
But it’s not just about appearance; Executive has a front page that makes it easy to display your goods and services.
It comes with a wide top slider to grab attention, six featured page areas, a call to action banner and a deep three widget footer.
More than enough real estate to show off all your content.
Love it! Thank you so much – really nice to have more choices to show business clients.
The wider width and lots of different options on the home page are going to appeal to lots of businesses.

Executive 2.0 comes with a fully widgetised homepage
No point in having a great looking homepage if you need a degree in PHP to set it up.
Fortunately the Executive homepage is fully widgetised so you don’t have to touch a single line of that nasty code.
When you first activate Executive it shows a blog layout on the front page, but once you add a widget to any of the home widget areas, the widgetised homepage kicks in.
Let’s take a quick look at setting up the homepage widget areas:
Top slider – install and activate the Genesis Responsive Slider plugin.
Drag the Genesis Responsive Slider widget to the Home Slider widget area and configure the slider settings.
The slider settings used in the demo can be found at the Studiopress forum for the Executive theme.
Header Right Menu – disable the Primary and Secondary Navigation under Genesis Settings -> Navigation.
Create a WordPress menu under Appearance -> Menus.
Drag the Custom Menu widget to Header Right and choose the menu you created.
Home Top Widgets – drag three Genesis-Featured Page widgets into this area and configure each widget.
You must have an image uploaded to each featured page for the thumbnail to show.
Call to action banner – use a text widget here with your own “call to action” text and a link to your contact page.
Home Middle Widgets – these are three more Genesis-Featured Page widgets, set up like the Home Top section.
Other bits and pieces:
For the header logo area, go to Appearance -> Header and upload your image there.
Footer widgets and Primary / Secondary sidebars are set up by dragging whatever widgets take your fancy into the widget areas.
To change the colour scheme, go to Genesis -> Settings -> Colour Styles and select the colour scheme you want.
Tip – Before you start setting-up your theme visit the Studiopress forum for the Executive theme and check out the tutorials.
Use the Genesis Extender plugin to fully customise your homepage
Like most Genesis child themes, Executive 2.0 looks fabulous straight out of the box, but if you want a completely customised homepage, we recommend the Genesis Extender plugin by Eric Hamm.
You get the Genesis Extender plugin for a one-off payment, you can use it on as many sites as you like, you get full support and it comes with a rock solid 30 day money-back guarantee.
We recommend the Extender plugin, because it’s the one we use here on WM Web Design.
